About SoloScape Staff

SoloScape moderators are players and staff who keep the world fair and the forums readable. They wear visible crowns next to their names so you can always tell when you are speaking with someone in an official capacity. There are three crown colours, and each one means something different.

Player Moderator crown Player Moderators (silver crown)

Player Moderators are recruited from the active community. They patrol the game world, answer questions in public chat, and step in when things get out of hand. A Player Mod can mute a disruptive player, kick someone from a crowded area, or issue a short-term ban for serious rule breaks. They are volunteers — not employees — and they do not have access to your account, your password, or your bank.

If you see the silver crown next to a name in-game, that account holds full in-game moderator powers.

Forum Moderator crown Forum Moderators (green crown)

Forum Moderators look after the message boards. They can lock threads, sticky important posts, delete spam, and ban accounts from posting. They are usually recruited from helpful, long-standing posters whose contributions to the boards have already been visible for some time.

The green crown only appears on the forums and on profile pages. Forum Moderators do not have in-game powers — they cannot mute or kick you in the game world. If a green-crown account is enforcing rules in-game, contact an Administrator immediately.

Jagex Moderator crown Administrators (gold crown)

Administrators are paid SoloScape staff. They have full powers across both the game and the forums, and they are the only people who can make changes to your account, process appeals, or roll back exploits. Anything an Administrator says in an official capacity overrides the decisions of Player or Forum Moderators.

The gold crown is reserved for staff. No volunteer ever wears it.

Selection process

We do not run a public application form for moderator positions — long experience has shown that public applications attract drama, lobbying, and bad-faith candidates. Instead, the team watches the community, takes nominations from existing moderators and from players, and quietly invites candidates whose conduct already matches the role.

Moderator seats rotate roughly every six months. A moderator who steps down keeps their account in good standing and is welcome to be re-invited later.

Reporting moderator misconduct

Moderators are held to a higher standard than ordinary players. If a moderator has acted unfairly, broken the rules themselves, or asked you for anything they should not have (your password, account, or items), report it.

  • To dispute a mute, kick, or ban, file an appeal: /appeal.
  • To report misconduct, abuse of powers, or impersonation: /report.

SoloScape staff will never ask for your password. If anyone wearing any crown asks, they are not who they claim to be.
